HB 118 - No Child Left Uninsured Act

• Expands medical assistance eligibility for children under 19 years to households with income up to 200 percent of federal poverty guideline (increased from 175 percent).

• Expands medical assistance eligibility for pregnant women to households with income up to 250 percent of federal poverty guideline (increased from 175 percent).

• Creates extended medical assistance coverage program for children over 200 percent of poverty guideline with annual sliding scale premiums (2-5 percent of household income) and potential copayments, contingent on federal approval.

• Requires department to spend $25,000 annually advertising medical assistance benefits available to persons under 21 years of age and pregnant women on television and radio.

• Changes poverty guideline standard from "official poverty line" to "federal poverty guideline for Alaska" as defined by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
