HB 273 Summary

• Establishes general grant land entitlements for Alaskan municipalities, including City and Borough of Wrangell at 9,006 acres and Haines Borough at 3,167 acres.

• Extends the deadline for municipalities to select or nominate land to satisfy their general grant land entitlements to October 1, 2011 for Wrangell and Haines Borough.

• Allows the director to approve land selections that would otherwise be disapproved if public interest can be adequately protected through stipulations, conditions, or covenants agreed to by the municipality.

• Permits municipalities rejected on land selections to submit additional selections within 90 days to satisfy their entitlements.

• Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
