Each school district shall employ at least two parental involvement coordinators at the administrative office, with one potentially assigned clerical and support duties.

School districts must employ one additional staff person for each 500 students enrolled or one person for each public school, whichever is greater, to enhance parental involvement in schools.

The department shall distribute legislated appropriated funds to school districts for coordinator salaries, clerical support, and additional staff costs, with pro rata distribution if appropriation is insufficient.

Funding for parental involvement coordination is separate from and in addition to the base student allocation under AS 14.17.470.

School districts are only required to comply with employment requirements if sufficient funds have been appropriated by the legislature to cover the costs.
