Legislature promotes expansion of home health services for older Alaskans and adults with disabilities to provide cost-effective alternatives to more restrictive care options.

Requests governor direct Department of Health and Social Services to apply for additional federal waivers under the home and community-based waiver program during next fiscal year reauthorization of medical assistance program.

Requests department make available expanded home health services including nonmedical care, supervision, and socialization as part of approved care plans.

Authorizes provision of care during caregiver sleep hours and work hours to allow primary caregivers of individuals who cannot be safely left unsupervised to maintain employment.

Authorizes companion services and supervision or monitoring of recipients who are not otherwise safe while sleeping.
