SB 180 Summary

• Amends AS 11.61.200(g) to modify affirmative defenses for misconduct involving weapons in the third degree prosecutions

• Removes the requirement that a defendant had a prior violent felony conviction to use certain affirmative defenses; restructures defenses into three independent options: receipt of pardon, conviction being set aside, or 10+ years elapsed since prior offense

• Deletes provisions that required defendants to prove they were in their dwelling or engaged in lawful hunting, fishing, trapping, or outdoor activities at time of weapon possession
