AK SB213

Establishes state funding to supplement the cost of free or reduced-price lunches and breakfasts for eligible students under federal law (42 U.S.C. 1771-1784).

Provides a base amount of 15 cents per lunch and 35 cents per breakfast, plus an additional amount calculated by reducing the applicable district cost factor by 1.0 and dividing the result by four.

Requires annual adjustments to the base amount beginning July 1, 2011, on October 1 each year based on the Consumer Price Index for the Anchorage metropolitan area, using 2009 as the reference base year.

Funding is subject to appropriation and administered by the department to school districts for eligible students.
