• Adds new subsection (f) to AS 47.55.020 allowing the department to adopt regulations providing comparable prescription drug benefits as an alternative to accepting federal benefits.

• Applies to pioneers and veterans residing in Alaska Pioneers' Homes who are eligible for federal prescription drug benefits.

• Grants the department discretionary authority to choose between accepting federal prescription drug benefits or establishing equivalent state-provided benefits.
