HB 105 Summary

• Amends AS 41.17.500(a) to expand the Southeast State Forest designation to include parcels described in both subsection (d) and newly added subsection (f)

• Adds subsection (f) containing detailed legal descriptions of 27 parcels of state-owned or acquired land and water in Southeast Alaska to be included in the forest, spanning multiple townships and ranges in the Copper River Meridian

• Modifies AS 41.17.500(e) to preserve the City and Borough of Wrangell's land selection rights and allows newly incorporated municipalities before June 30, 2019 to count designated forest lands toward municipal entitlements but prohibits their selection

• Authorizes the Department of Natural Resources to immediately adopt regulations necessary to implement the changes, effective no earlier than July 1, 2011

• Takes effect July 1, 2011, except regulatory provisions which take effect immediately
