HB 125 Summary

• Moves the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board from the Department of Public Safety to the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development, effective July 1, 2012.

• Requires the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development to supply clerical and administrative services to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.

• Directs license and civil fine revenues collected by the board to be transferred to the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development and deposited in the general fund.

• Authorizes the board director and enforcement personnel to exercise peace officer powers with concurrence of the public safety commissioner, limited to enforcing criminal provisions of alcoholic beverage laws, prostitution laws, and gambling laws; prohibits use of keys or identification cards to access private clubs without a search warrant.

• Updates all references to the board's departmental home from Public Safety to Commerce, Community, and Economic Development throughout Alaska statutes.
