HB 243 - Robo-call Prohibition Act

• Prohibits telephone solicitations to numbers registered on the national do not call registry for the required minimum time before the call is made.

• Prohibits telephone solicitations to customers who have previously communicated their desire not to receive such calls to the solicitor or their organization.

• Prohibits originating telephone calls using automated or recorded messages for advertisements or solicitations.

• Prohibits using automated telephone systems, devices, or facsimile machines to select, dial, and play recorded messages for selling goods or services, conveying product information, soliciting information, gathering data, or promoting political campaigns.

• Exempts automated calls informing customers about purchase status, responding to customer inquiries, or maintaining preexisting business relationships, and exempts calls made with live operator permission before the recorded message plays.
