Increases chief administrative officers or fire chiefs on the Alaska Fire Standards Council from two to three members, with at least one from the Alaska Fire Chiefs Association nominated by that association.

Expands firefighter representatives on the council from unspecified numbers to four total, including at least one from the Alaska State Firefighters Association and at least one from the Alaska Professional Fire Fighters Association, both nominated by their respective associations.

Removes the requirement that firefighter representatives be administrative officers and prohibits fire chiefs from serving on the council while representing firefighter positions.

Adds a new subsection requiring the governor to appoint association-nominated council members from a list of at least three nominees submitted by each association, with authority to reject lists and request resubmission.

Limits the new membership requirements to appointments made on or after the effective date of the Act.
