The Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development shall employ two persons who are not board members: an executive secretary and an investigator.

The investigator shall conduct investigations into alleged violations of Chapter 08.48 and into alleged violations of board regulations and orders.

The investigator shall conduct investigations at the request of the board based on complaints filed with the department or the board.

The investigator is directly responsible and accountable to the board, but only the department has authority to terminate the investigator's employment and shall provide day-to-day and administrative supervision.
