Amends AS 39.35.340(d) to allow credited service from military service to be used toward normal retirement requirements for peace officers and firefighters in the public employees' retirement system.

Adds new subsection (j) to AS 39.35.340 creating an exception to the general rule that credited service cannot satisfy normal retirement service requirements.

Allows peace officers and firefighters retiring under the defined benefit plan to credit up to five years of past military service toward their retirement eligibility.

Specifies that military service credited under this provision is treated as service as a peace officer or firefighter under AS 39.35.370.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment under AS 01.10.070(c).
