SB 126 Summary

• Alaska Working Group on Interstate Energy Production shall hold a producer state energy symposium in Alaska before October 1, 2011, with expenses and donations subject to available funding.

• Symposium steering committee shall include one energy industry representative and one general business representative to plan the event, secure funding, and arrange participation by legislators, executives, hydrocarbon experts, and business organizations from producer states.

• Steering committee must solicit peer-reviewed papers and ensure symposium covers fossil fuel development, carbon management, air quality regulation, domestic energy demands and costs, and strategies for producer states to cooperatively analyze and influence federal energy legislation.

• Alaska Working Group shall submit a report on the symposium to legislatures, governors, and congressional delegations of participating producer states by December 1, 2012.

• "Producer state" is defined as a state that produces and exports more hydrocarbons than it uses and imports; act takes effect upon enactment of HCR 9 establishing the Alaska Working Group on Interstate Energy Production.
