Increases the number of chief administrative officers or fire chiefs on the Alaska Fire Standards Council from two to three members, with at least one nominated by the Alaska Fire Chiefs Association.

Expands firefighter representatives on the council from an unspecified number to four members, including at least one from the Alaska State Firefighters Association and at least one from the Alaska Professional Fire Fighters Association, nominated under a formal process.

Removes the requirement that firefighter representatives be administrative officers, allowing any firefighters to serve.

Establishes a formal nomination process requiring associations to submit at least three nominees to the governor, who may reject and request new lists.

Makes these membership requirements applicable only to appointments made on or after the bill's effective date.
