SB 33 Summary

• Adds AS 26.05.262 to recognize designations on the Department of Defense Military Record of Emergency Data Form (DD Form 93) for members of organized militia in active state service regarding disposition of remains upon death in duty status.

• Adds AS 26.10.065 to recognize designations on the DD Form 93 for state resident members of the armed forces regarding disposition of remains upon death in duty status, overriding any conflicting state law.

• Includes separate provision for United States Coast Guard members who have executed the Coast Guard Designation of Beneficiaries and Record of Emergency Data Form (CG-2020D) regarding disposition of remains upon death in duty status.

• Applies to deaths occurring while in duty status as defined in 10 U.S.C. 1481.
