AK HB11

Prohibits the Alaska Court System from publishing criminal case records on public websites if 60 days have passed since acquittal or dismissal.

Applies to cases where the defendant was acquitted of all charges, all charges were dismissed (outside of plea agreements), or acquitted of some charges with remaining charges dismissed.

Excludes charges dismissed as part of plea agreements under Rule 11 of Alaska Rules of Criminal Procedure from the publication restriction.

Applies to criminal charges concluded on or after October 1, 2016, with legislative intent to remove pre-effective date records meeting these criteria from public websites.

Legislation takes effect October 1, 2016.
