Allows peace officers and firefighters on unpaid leave due to on-the-job injury or occupational illness for which they receive workers' compensation benefits to accrue credited service in the public employees' retirement system at no cost to the employee.

Entitlement to accrue credited service ends when the peace officer or firefighter becomes eligible to receive benefits under AS 39.35.370(a) or 39.35.410(a).

Requires the state to make contributions to the defined contribution plan for peace officers and firefighters accruing membership service while on workers' compensation leave, including both regular compensation and spendable weekly wages computed under workers' compensation law.

Establishes that peace officers and firefighters on workers' compensation leave are entitled to accrue membership service for purposes of retirement eligibility without charge to the employee.

Applies to credited service for leaves of absence beginning on or after the effective date of the Act.
