School districts may reemploy teachers who retired under the defined benefit plan if the retiree has been retired at least three months before reemployment.

Reemployed retirees do not become active members and continue receiving retirement benefits without interruption during the period of reemployment.

Reemployed retirees are not subject to salary deductions under the retirement system and cannot earn additional credited service during reemployment.

Upon subsequent retirement, reemployed members receive an additional benefit based on credited service and average base salary during the reemployment period.

The law applies to reemployment contracts made on or after the effective date of the Act for members receiving benefits under normal retirement provisions.
