Prohibits setting traps or snares within 200 feet of campsites, recreational beaches, roadside rests, scenic sites, public facilities established under AS 41.21, or public trails.

Violators are guilty of a class B misdemeanor with penalties of up to $500 fine and/or 30 days imprisonment for standard violations.

Increases penalties to up to $1,000 fine and/or 60 days imprisonment if the violation causes physical harm to an individual or domestic animal.

Allows aggrieved persons to petition superior court for injunctions against violators and to seek general and special damages.

Takes effect January 1, 2017; defines "public trail" as trails designated under AS 41.21.850-41.21.872 or other trails open to public use as a matter of right.
