Legislators are ineligible for per diem allowance when the legislature is in session outside the capital city if the member's principal residence is less than 30 miles from the session location.

Legislators are ineligible for per diem allowance when the legislature is in session in the capital city (Juneau) if the member's principal residence is in the City and Borough of Juneau.

The Alaska Legislative Council must adopt a policy applying to all members of the legislature regarding reimbursement for moving expenses and payment of per diem allowances.

The policy must set conditions and prescribe the amounts of reimbursement adapted to the special needs of the legislative branch as determined by the council.

Legislative compensation commission recommendations regarding per diem and other allowances for legislators are subject to AS 24.10.130(b) restrictions and become effective on the first day of the next regular legislative session unless disapproved by bill within 60 days.
