HB 4 - Automated External Defibrillators

• Amends AS 09.65.087(b) to limit civil liability protection for persons who acquire or provide automated external defibrillator (AED) devices to cases involving gross negligence only.

• Removes specific liability exceptions that previously required device providers to notify emergency medical response authorities within 30 days, maintain and test devices, provide emergency notification means, and train employees on device use.

• Eliminates the six-month grace period for training requirements that previously provided immunity if harm occurred within six months of hiring an employee or acquiring a device.

• Repeals AS 09.65.087(d) in its entirety.
