Motor vehicle operators must drive in the right lane or as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway.

Exceptions to the right-lane requirement include: being directed otherwise, overtaking and passing another vehicle in the same direction, and preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into an alley, private road, or driveway.

Motor vehicle operators may not prohibit, impede, or block an overtaking vehicle in the left lane and must merge into the right lane when being overtaken by another vehicle.

Violations of the lane usage requirements constitute an infraction punishable by a fine of at least $100.
