CSHJR 5(TRA) am - Recognition of Academy of Model Aeronautics

• Recognizes the Academy of Model Aeronautics as a community-based organization promoting safety guidelines and best practices for recreational and sport aeromodeling and unmanned aircraft systems in Alaska.

• Acknowledges the Academy's active presence in Alaska since 1957 through flying sites and organized flying clubs, and its national recognition by the National Aeronautic Association and international recognition by the Federation Aeronautique Internationale.

• Commends the Academy for publishing and maintaining safety standards since 1936 that follow Federal Aviation Administration and Federal Communications Commission guidelines, and for providing insurance coverage consistent with national regulations.

• Urges the state to work with federal agencies to develop meaningful guidelines and regulations for community-based aeromodeling organizations that protect personal privacy and safety.

• Directs copies be sent to federal officials, University of Alaska leadership, aviation organizations, and Alaska's congressional delegation.
