SB 101 Summary

• Amends AS 37.05.146(c)(56) to change language from "fees for the use of state park system facilities" to "fees and other charges" received by the Department of Natural Resources under AS 41.21.026.

• Modifies AS 37.10.050(a) to add fees adopted by the Department of Natural Resources under AS 41.21.026(f) to the list of exceptions from the cost-limitation requirement for state agency fees and charges.

• Removes the restriction limiting Department of Natural Resources merchandise sales to informational and educational materials only (such as maps and plans), allowing the department to sell informational, educational, or promotional merchandise.

• Authorizes the Department of Natural Resources to price merchandise to ensure a reasonable monetary return to the state and requires that merchandise be produced or manufactured in the United States, preferably procured from Alaska bidders or persons employing prisoners.

• Renumbers a provision in AS 41.21.026(a) regarding presentation or attendance at park programs from subsection (12) to subsection (11) to account for the removal of the merchandise sales restriction.
