SB 147 Summary

• Adds citizenship requirement to Alaska senior benefits payment program eligibility, requiring applicants to be either U.S. citizens or qualified aliens under 8 U.S.C. 1613 and 1641

• Renumbers existing eligibility criteria in AS 47.45.302(a) to accommodate the new citizenship requirement as criterion (3)

• Clarifies that application procedures must follow the format prescribed by the department, with allowance for abbreviated forms for individuals previously receiving $120 monthly senior assistance payments administered by the department on or before July 29, 2007

• Effective date is July 1, 2016
