SB 201 Summary

• Adds authority for the Board of Pharmacy to establish qualifications and duties of an executive administrator position and delegate necessary authority to conduct board business.

• Creates licensing and inspection requirements for wholesale drug distributors and outsourcing facilities located outside Alaska that ship, mail, or deliver prescription drugs to in-state licensees or advertise in the state.

• Requires out-of-state outsourcing facilities to register with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and comply with 21 U.S.C. 503B (Drug Quality and Security Act of 2013).

• Mandates that minimum specifications for drug compounding, storage, and dispensing facilities comply with the federal Drug Supply Chain Security Act (21 U.S.C. 201-208).

• Establishes the executive administrator position to perform duties related to licensing and regulation of pharmacies and serve as liaison to legislative, executive, media, and other state pharmacy boards.
