HB 185 Summary

• Relocates the permanent site of the Alaska Legislature from the state capital to the Legislative Information Office in Anchorage, with sessions convening on the third Tuesday in January at 1:00 p.m.

• Amends campaign finance regulations to prohibit legislators and legislative employees from soliciting contributions in Anchorage during sessions, except within 90 days before elections outside of Anchorage.

• Updates lobbyist registration requirements to reference the "location of the session" in Anchorage and directs the lobbyist directory to be available at the Legislative Information Office in Anchorage.

• Modifies ethics provisions and references throughout statute to replace "capital city" with specific reference to the Municipality of Anchorage and the Legislative Information Office as the legislative session location.

• Takes effect January 1, 2019, and repeals AS 44.06.050, 44.06.055, and 44.06.060.
