AK HB20

Authorizes individuals holding elective public office in Alaska to solemnize marriages, adding them as a fourth category of persons authorized to perform marriages.

Preserves existing authorization for religious officials (ministers, priests, rabbis, Salvation Army officers, elders of recognized congregations), marriage commissioners, and judicial officers to solemnize marriages.

Adds new subsection clarifying that persons authorized to solemnize marriages under religious, congregational, or elective office provisions have no legal duty or obligation to solemnize any particular marriage.

Updates statute on marriages solemnized by unauthorized persons to reference all categories of persons authorized under the amended law, including elected officials.
