HB 251 - Responsible Judges Act

• Adds "exercising legislative power" as grounds for malfeasance in impeachment procedures for Alaska Supreme Court justices, Court of Appeals judges, and Superior Court judges

• Requires impeachment motions to originate in the Senate and be approved by a two-thirds vote of its members, with trial conducted by the House of Representatives requiring a two-thirds vote for conviction

• Limits impeachment judgment to removal from office only, but permits separate court proceedings on the same or related charges

• Makes the legislature's impeachment judgment non-reviewable by courts

• Takes effect immediately upon passage
