HB 267 Summary

• Requires the Department of Fish and Game to release hunt records and guided sport fishing activity reports to municipalities that levy taxes on those activities for purposes of verifying tax compliance.

• Records may only be released if they concern hunts or activities occurring within the four calendar years preceding the request and the municipality agrees to maintain confidentiality.

• The Department of Fish and Game may charge municipalities a fee, set under AS 37.10.050, to provide requested records.

• Makes similar amendments to commercial fishing records, allowing municipalities that tax guided sport fishing activities to access records filed by guides for tax verification purposes under the same confidentiality and time restrictions.

• The Act takes effect immediately upon enactment.
