AK HB29

Prohibits any person from selling or offering for sale a genetically modified fish or fish product in Alaska.

Defines "genetically modified fish" as finfish or shellfish whose genetic structure has been altered at the molecular level through unnatural means, including recombinant DNA and RNA techniques, cell fusion, gene deletion or doubling, introduction of exogenous genetic material, or alteration of gene position.

Includes the progeny (offspring) of genetically modified fish within the definition of prohibited organisms.

Defines "genetically modified fish product" as any product prepared from a genetically modified fish.

Repeals existing provisions in AS 17.20.040(a)(14), 17.20.040(b)(2), and 17.20.040(b)(3).
