Amends AS 06.01.015(a) to exempt premium finance company licensees subject to AS 06.40 from the mandatory examination requirement of at least one examination every 18 months that applies to other financial institutions.

Permits the Department of Commerce to conduct additional examinations of all financial institutions at its discretion.

Grants the Department discretionary authority to examine premium finance companies subject to AS 06.40, making such examinations optional rather than mandatory.
