Prohibits setting traps or snares for animals within 200 feet of campsites, recreational beaches, roadside rests, scenic sites, public facilities established under AS 41.21, or public trails.

Violators are guilty of a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than $500, imprisonment for not more than 30 days, or both.

Enhanced penalties of not more than $1,000, imprisonment for not more than 60 days, or both apply if the violation causes physical harm to an individual or domestic animal.

Allows aggrieved persons to petition superior court for injunction and recover general and special damages from violators.

Takes effect January 1, 2018.
