Alaska Legislature urges the federal government to respect the state's authority to regulate marijuana use, production, and distribution and refrain from federal interference in states where marijuana has been legalized.

Resolution cites Alaska voters' approval of Ballot Measure No. 2 on November 4, 2014, legalizing marijuana, and Alaska's implementation of regulations under 3 AAC 306 that address federal enforcement priorities.

Resolution references support from the American Medical Association for public health-based strategies rather than incarceration for cannabis possession and the need for clinical research into cannabinoid-based medicines.

Copies of the resolution shall be sent to President Donald J. Trump, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, U.S. Senators Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan, and U.S. Representative Don Young.
