SB 121 Summary

• Amends compensation for Alaska State Defense Force members to receive pay equal to AS 39.27.011(a) and 39.27.020 for equivalent state official or employee assignments, with allowances under AS 39.20.110-39.20.170, but excludes training and community service activities.

• Establishes a new monthly salary schedule for classified and partially exempt executive branch employees and legislature employees, with ranges 5-30 and steps A-F, replacing previous salary structures.

• Renames "pay increments" to "merit-based pay increases" computed at 3.25 percent of base salary after two years in step F, requiring a "good" or higher annual performance rating.

• Creates an additional merit-based pay increase mechanism allowing employees below step F to advance one step after two years at the same step with a "good" or higher rating.

• Repeals previous subsections (e) and (f) of AS 39.27.011 and takes effect immediately.
