SB 169 Summary

• Amends AS 47.07.030 to define "direct supervision" for medical assistance coverage of behavioral health clinic services

• Requires behavioral health clinic services to be provided by or under direct supervision of a physician licensed under AS 08.64

• Defines "direct supervision" to mean a physician is available in person or by communication device to provide clinical consultation, approve treatment plans, review cases, ensure medical necessity, and assume professional responsibility for services

• Specifies that supervising physician must review each case to determine need for continued care and ensure services provided are medically necessary and clinically appropriate
