• Allows school districts to reemploy retired teachers under the Alaska teachers' retirement system, subject to specific conditions and restrictions.

• Requires retired members under age 62 to wait at least six months before reemployment, and those age 62 or older to wait at least 60 days, and both must certify no prior arrangement for rehire existed.

• Mandates school districts adopt a reemployment policy by resolution, publicly advertise positions for 10 business days, and actively recruit non-retired applicants before hiring retired members; contracts cannot exceed 12 consecutive months.

• Allows reemployed retired members to continue receiving retirement benefits without becoming active members, making no salary deductions, and not accruing additional service credit; however, they remain eligible for group health plan coverage.

• Requires employers to contribute 12.56 percent of base salaries for reemployed retired members to the retirement system, and applies to contracts made after the effective date.
