Board of Pharmacy must post and maintain a link to the FDA's list of approved interchangeable biological products on its website.

Pharmacists dispensing brand-name biological products must include the product's proprietary or proper name on the container label near the brand name.

Pharmacists may substitute an interchangeable biological product with patient consent and must notify the prescribing practitioner within three business days of dispensing through electronic records, electronic prescribing technology, pharmacy benefit management systems, or alternative means like fax or email.

Pharmacists must maintain records of dispensed biological products for a minimum of two years and are not required to notify prescribers if the refill is the same biological product as the previous filling.

The act establishes definitions for "biological product" and "interchangeable biological product" based on FDA standards and takes effect January 1, 2019, with the Board of Pharmacy authorized to adopt implementing regulations.
