SB 37 Summary

• Creates position of executive administrator for Board of Pharmacy, serving as principal executive officer with salary at Range 23 step on state salary schedule and tasked with licensing duties and serving as liaison to government branches and other pharmacy boards.

• Authorizes Board of Pharmacy to license and inspect wholesale drug distributors, third-party logistics providers, and outsourcing facilities located outside Alaska that ship or advertise prescription drugs in the state.

• Requires Board of Pharmacy standards for drug compounding, storage, and dispensing to comply with Drug Supply Chain Security Act (sections 201-208, P.L. 113-54).

• Reduces Alaska Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission membership from three to two commissioners with compensation at Range 25 on state salary schedule.

• Allows single commissioner to exercise all commission powers during vacancy; designates chair member responsible for administrative and personnel practices; provides hearing officer decision is final if tie vote occurs between commissioners.
