AK SB50

Increases the fee on retail sales and installations of studded tires in Alaska from $5 to $50 per tire, effective July 1, 2017.

Lowers the weight threshold for metal studs or spikes subject to the fee from 1.1 grams to 0.5 grams each.

Extends the studded tire fee to online retail sales occurring outside the state if the tires are used primarily in Alaska.

Requires fee proceeds to be separately accounted for and allows the legislature to appropriate the annual balance for repair and maintenance of state-maintained roads.

Removes the July 1, 2004 effective date language, making the fee provisions apply to all sales and installations on or after the bill's effective date.
