SB 51 Summary

• Extends the termination date of the Board of Veterinary Examiners from June 30, 2017 to June 30, 2025.

• Eliminates the requirement for manicurists to pass a board-conducted examination for licensure; however, applicants must complete a 12-hour health, safety, and hygiene course from an approved school and pass that school's test.

• Creates an optional "advanced manicurist" endorsement requiring 250 hours of instruction and passage of a board examination for those seeking additional credentials.

• Allows hairdressing licensees to practice manicuring and limited esthetics under the same license and permits hairdressing instructors to teach basic manicuring courses.

• Takes effect immediately.
