Department of Public Safety may enter agreements with nonprofit regional corporations and federal, tribal, and local government agencies to provide law enforcement services at agreed upon hours and locations.

Department may charge reasonable fees to cover costs of providing law enforcement services under these agreements.

Fees collected by the Department of Public Safety for law enforcement services are designated as a separate revenue category in state budgeting.

Agreements are limited to nonprofit regional corporations qualified for the village public safety officers program and entities without an organized police force or existing contracted public safety coverage as of the effective date.

Act takes effect July 1, 2017.
