HB 203 - Transportation of Live Crab Summary

• Amends AS 16.10.240 to require that commercially taken live crab be landed in an Alaska port and recorded on a fish ticket form before being shipped, transported, or sent out of state.

• Permits all crab species (King, Dungeness, and Tanner) to be shipped live via air freight after pre-packaging, removing previous restrictions on air transport.

• Allows live Dungeness crab to be transported by surface transportation only when taken from locations and times where the Department of Environmental Conservation does not require seafood processors to test for marine toxins.
