HB 211 Summary

• Prohibits operation of motor vehicles on highways with window tinting on the front windshield below the top five inches, mirrored tinting, or tinting that reduces light transmittance below 35 percent on side windows, quarter glass, or back glass.

• Allows exceptions for limousines, passenger buses used for hire, motor homes, and multipurpose vehicles if tinting complies with Department of Public Safety regulations.

• Permits tinted windows for drivers or passengers with medical conditions requiring sun protection if the condition is certified annually by a licensed physician and certification is carried in the vehicle.

• Classifies violations as infractions.

• Annuls existing regulations in 13 AAC 04.223(b)(2), 13 AAC 04.223(b)(3), and 13 AAC 04.223(h).
