Department of Transportation and Public Facilities must obtain legislative approval by law before selling, transferring, or otherwise disposing of any state ferry.

"Ferry" is defined by reference to AS 19.65.030(g).

Proceeds from the sale, transfer, or disposal of ferries are deposited into the Alaska marine highway system fund, except for proceeds required to be used for eligible purposes under 23 U.S.C.

The Alaska marine highway system fund receives gross revenue from the system, consistent legislative appropriations for stable public services, and other appropriated money as non-lapsing accounts.
