HB 293 - Permits for Trapping Cabins

• Commissioner of natural resources may issue nonexclusive, nontransferable permits for trapping cabins on state land to persons at least 18 years old with a valid trapping license and proof of an established trapline demonstrating substantial trapping activity.

• Permits may authorize construction of new trapping cabins or use of preexisting cabins if the applicant owns the cabin, has owner approval, or the cabin has no owner.

• Commissioner shall establish reasonable permit fees not to exceed $500, with permit duration limited to five years and a single permit authorizing use of up to three cabins.

• Permit holders must construct and maintain cabins according to director-established specifications and may not enlarge preexisting cabins beyond those specifications.

• Violations of permit terms result in immediate permit revocation and permit holder liability for all costs of cabin dismantling, disposal, and land reclamation.
