Legislature may act on governor appointments at any time during the Second Regular Session of the 31st Alaska State Legislature by confirming or declining to confirm by majority vote.

Failure to act on an appointment is deemed a declination of confirmation on the earlier of January 18, 2021, or 30 days after the governor's March 11, 2020 public health disaster emergency declaration expires or is proclaimed to no longer exist.

Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority board members whose terms expired March 1, 2020, may not continue serving until a successor is confirmed; newly appointed members may serve pending confirmation or declination.

If a person awaiting confirmation or declination resigns or their position becomes vacant after the Second Regular Session adjourns, the governor cannot reappoint them to the same position until the First Regular Session of the 32nd Alaska State Legislature convenes.

Act takes effect immediately.
