HB 48 Summary

• Moves professionals employed to conduct temporary or special inquiries, studies, or examinations authorized by the governor from the exempt service to the partially exempt service of the state.

• Repeals AS 39.25.110(9) and AS 39.27.011(k), eliminating the governor's authority to authorize higher pay than otherwise allowable for certain partially exempt employees in the executive branch.

• Requires the commissioner of administration to submit a report to the legislature within 60 days listing all exempt and partially exempt service positions, along with current and proposed salary schedules for each position.

• The repeal of pay authorization provisions applies only to employment contracts entered into on or after the effective date.

• Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
