Amends AS 12.55.155(c) to add a new aggravating factor (paragraph 38) at sentencing allowing sentences above the presumptive range when a defendant is convicted of an offense under AS 11.56.375 and was under contract, a volunteer, or an employee of the Department of Corrections at the time of the offense committed in the course of their duties.

The aggravating factor applies specifically to offenses committed by Corrections Department contractors, volunteers, or employees during the performance of their contractual, volunteer, or employment duties.

Makes the amendments applicable only to offenses committed on or after the effective date of the Act.

Takes effect July 1, 2020.
